My kids were begging for red velvet pancakes. I looked up a recipe, and then another recipe, and then another and another and another and all of them showed the same horrible truth - the secret to making red velvet pancakes is using red food coloring. Lots of red food coloring. Sooooo disappointing.
So we've started a quest to make red velvet pancakes using something else.
Take 1 - strawberry jello mix replacing the sugar.
We ended up with pink pancakes.
With a slight strawberry taste.
Delicious, yes, but not quite red velvet pancakes.
The quest continues......
